fixyourproblem: (What is that!?)

It has been a long night for Brantley. Just a few hours ago, he was still enjoying a nice dinner with his date. It was a really nice dinner. Eating roasted lamb with rosemary and olive on the third floor terrace overlooking the Thames in the company of sophisticated and beautiful lady and enjoying the sound of string trio. What thing could be better? But every good thing must end, no? Unfortunately for Brantley, it ended with a bitter taste.

During the date, Brantley did sense some hidden motives from his date, but even Brantley has his own secret, so he decided to ignore it and continue the date. That, of course, was a bad choice. As it turned out, his date was, in fact, a crazy human-eating werewolf who likes to play with his food before slowly chewing them. Fortunately for Brantley, he managed to trick the beast and got away from her. So, what’s the problem? The problem is, while on his way home, his date came back with bloody pair of shotguns.

“You’ve got to be kidding me!” He bawls, as he holds his stance.

“Having a nice time, baby?” The werewolf taunts him before she shoots her prey.

Brantley dodges the first wave of the bullet hell. “Can’t say I’m not aroused, darlin’.” He replies to the werewolf with a sarcastic smile.

The wolf charges toward him while making her next attack. Responding to this, Brantley make a dash toward one of the alleyway. The beast make a leap toward the alleyway and fine Brantley has already gone out of sight. Using her sense of smell, she follows his track. Brantley keeps running while devising a plan to get out of that problem. He knows he can’t outrun or hide from a werewolf who has great physical endurance and adept sense of smell, so he must find a way to neutralize her. He runs toward an open space, where he stops a moment to catch a breath and analyzes the environment.

Not long, she also arrives at the open space. The beast looks at her prey for a moment before shooting at him again. Brantley does a roll to dodge the attack; he then continues to observe the crazed gunner while dodging her attack. For Brantley, time seems slow at that time, sure, he can focus himself to evade the attacks, but who knows how long that will last. After dozens of pellet are shot out, Brantley succeeds to stay alive, but his body is wounded all over the place. Luckily, she has expended all the ammo of her shotgun. Unluckily, the werewolf still has other means to kill him. She throws away her firearms and leaps toward Brantley. Reacting for the leap, he then makes an attack using the knife he has hid inside his sleeve. He manages to make a cut before she knocks him toward a wall. Hitting the wall, he falls down to the floor. She looks at the cut; it was shallow but visible. Nevertheless, what does a cut mean to a werewolf? Nothing, of course.

“Well, it has been a nice date, but it’s dinnertime, baby.”

She slowly walks toward Brantley, who was lying down without any movement. Arriving at his place, the beast grabs him and lifts him up. At the hand of the beast, Brantley hangs like a rag doll.

“Bon Appétit!”

As she opens her jaw, he suddenly raises his head.

“Wait! I have got something to say.” He shouts.

“Still alive? Heh..” She giggled. “Fine, entertain me with your last word, baby.”

“Does your mother never tell you not to play with your food? It might fight back and you might get hurt.” He smiles as he makes a comment on her behavior.

Just before she can reply his comment, her body suddenly lose strength. She let him go from her grapple as she falls to the ground.

“Puffer fish. Delicious, isn’t it?” He says sarcastically. Yes, a puffer fish poison. Delivered trough the cut he made before. He always brings it in case he gets into trouble. Though most of the time he can talk his way out before using it.

He takes a stand near her preparing for a coup de grace. His face shows sadness, but he is resolute. Brantley never liked to kill and he never hated the shadowkind, but rather than letting a crazy homicidal monster on the loose, he will do what must be done. If he releases her, she might come back for him or other people. If he waits for the authorities, the poison might wear off before they arrive. And even if they arrive on time, she might escape. That’s a risk he is not willing to take. He then steadies his position and strikes her to deliver the finishing blow.

It has been a long night for Brantley; he is hurt, tired, disappointed, and bitter. But time goes on, and so does life. He walks home, clean himself and treat his wound. Then he goes into a deep sleep. A nice dreamless sleep.
